Biography
John Selway grew up in the Washington, DC area, the son of music teachers, studying violin and piano from a young age. He got involved in the East Coast's early rave scene as a teenager, playing keyboards at the club Exodus alongside Ali of Deep Dish, and in 1991, at 17, co-produced DDR's first release, "A Feeling" by Moods.
He formed the industrial-leaning duo Disintegrator with Oliver Chessler, and after moving to New York in the mid-1990s was recruited by Scott Richmond to work at Satellite Records, supplying techno to DJs including Danny Tenaglia. He co-founded Serotonin Records with Jason Szostek and launched the label CSM, and his long-running collaboration with Christian Smith produced global techno anthems including "Move!" and "Total Departure."
