Biography
Damon Wild was born and raised in New Orleans, and by 15 was DJing alternative music on college radio, mixing industrial, punk, new wave, and Chicago house. He moved to New York City around 1991, working at Sonic Groove Records in Brooklyn alongside store founders Adam X and Frankie Bones, and living in a Bensonhurst basement house with Joey Beltram and Bones.
In 1991 he began working for distributor Northcott, setting up the Experimental Records label and signing artists including Woody McBride, Tim Taylor, Joey Beltram, and Dennis Ferrer, releasing his own early rave tracks under names including Morph and Toxic Two, the latter reaching the UK Top 10 with "Rave Generator." In 1993 he founded his own label, Synewave Records, which has since released Steve Stoll, Dan Curtin, and Function, among many others.
