Biography
Colin Dale grew up in a household steeped in soul, reggae, jazz, and funk, with school friends including Fabio, Grooverider, Dave Angel, Jumpin Jack Frost, and Bryan Gee, all of whom went on to become top DJs in their own right. He began warming up for Tim Westwood at Soho's Gossips nightclub in 1982 while working as a banker, and in 1985 joined pirate station Kiss FM, leaving banking to pursue music full time.
His three-hour Abstrakt Dance show ran for 16 years, introducing British audiences to Detroit and Chicago techno and house and becoming one of the most influential radio programs in UK dance music history. He introduced friends like Fabio to house and techno, co-ran the Deep Space club nights with Colin Faver and Brenda Russell, launched his own label, Abstrakt Dance, and recorded for Perfecto's very first LP.
