Neil Landstrumm

Neil MacPherson Sutherland, known as Neil Landstrumm, was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, and started his professional music career in 1994, developing a gritty, unpredictable sound often described as "wonky techno." He met fellow producer Cristian Vogel in 1994 while DJing at Edinburgh's Sativa club, releasing his debut single, The Paskal EP, on Vogel's Mosquito label and later forming the duo Blue Arsed Fly together.

He released a string of albums for Peacefrog and Tresor through the '90s and 2000s, including Brown by August (1995) and Bedrooms and Cities (1997), before moving toward dubstep and experimental hip hop on Planet Mu in the late 2000s. Landstrumm also built a parallel career as a graphic designer, working for clients including MTV and Rockstar Games, and founded his own techno and design label, Scandinavia.
