Mystic Bill

Bill's move to Chicago in 1988 marked a turning point in his DJ and production career. Originally from Miami, he'd worked at the Flamingo Record Pool and played guitar for the synth/goth band Life in Sodom before relocating to Chicago, where he built residencies at Shelter Nightclub, Crobar, and Smartbar, emerging as a prominent figure in the city's second wave of house and techno producers.

His production career began with a remix of Kay Ladrae's "Lack of Love" alongside Vince Lawrence and Karr Crash, followed by a full-length album on Trax Records and collaborations with Chicago vocalists Darryl Pandy and Shay Jones. He's recorded under aliases including Sundowners, Billy Nightmare, and Savage Hymn, and has influenced a generation of producers including the Blessed Madonna, Kink, Axel Boman, and Maceo Plex.
