Kimball Collins

Kimball Collins was born December 12, 1967, in Atlanta, Georgia, and grew up in Orlando, Florida, where he began DJing in 1987. His club nights at the Beacham Theater helped jump-start Orlando's dance scene, which by the late 1990s had become one of America's rave capitals, and he became one of the first American DJs, alongside Christopher Lawrence, to rank alongside British trance heroes like Paul Oakenfold, Sasha, and John Digweed.

He founded his own label, PositiVibes Records, in 1993, and his first single with partner Rich Dekkard, "Hardlife"/"Lushlife," became a club hit licensed across Europe. In 1994 he became the first of nearly a dozen mixers to helm a volume of the United DJs of America series, and went on to play residencies at clubs including Aahz, Crobar, Spundae, and Firestone, alongside superclubs including London's Ministry of Sound and Renaissance, one of the first American DJs to do so.
