From Waynesboro, Pennsylvania

Kevin Yost grew up in the small farm town of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, where he taught himself drums and keys, drawing early inspiration from his father's Chuck Mangione records, and began DJing at 11 with a cheap turntable and mixer set he got for Christmas. In 1995 he sent out demo tapes that led to an affiliation with New Jersey's i! Records, and his 1998 album, One Starry Night, a fusion of jazz and percussive house, became a deep house classic, selling more than 50,000 copies worldwide.

His success caught the attention of major labels, leading to collaborations with Eric Clapton, Everything But the Girl, and Cirque du Soleil, and he's since released close to 100 singles and eight albums, alongside a live improvisational show called Live & Improvised.
