Biography
Justin Robertson, born June 11, 1968, worked as a record store clerk at Manchester's Eastern Bloc, where he was mentored by Martin Price of 808 State, and began DJing at influential clubs including Spice, Most Excellent, the Haçienda, and Konspiracy. He went on to mentor the Chemical Brothers, then students in Manchester, and ran his own Rebellious Jukebox club night, which helped shape the mid-1990s trend of blending musical styles.
In 1992 he formed the big beat group Lionrock with MC Buzz B and Roger Lyons, signing to Deconstruction Records the following year and scoring UK Top 40 hits including "Rude Boy Rock" and "Packet of Peace." He remixed artists including Björk, Erasure, and the Happy Mondays, and after 2000 released music under his own name and as Revtone and the Deadstock33s.
