John Howard

John Howard has been a fixture of the San Francisco house scene since 1993, playing legendary parties including Wicked and Spundae alongside smaller, insiders-only venues like The Top and The End Up. His first residency came at Boogie Buffet in the early '90s, sharing bills with other rising local DJs including Marques Wyatt, Mark Farina, and Jonene Phelps.

Howard's circle of friends went on to found several of the city's most respected house labels, including Dubtribe Sound System's Imperial Dub Recordings and Om Records, and he contributed to many of them, including the compilation San Francisco Sessions Vol. 2 for Om in 2000 and the track "Spacewalk" on the label's Om Lounge Vol. 3. He also taped a run of live sets through the decade, among them The John Howard Sound Experience and Live At Sunset in 1996, and Live On Haight, released on the local Housewares label in 1997.

He continued producing into the 2000s, releasing Shack Traxx on Kinetic Grooves in 2000 and Mission Street Symphony in 2003, and remains active today, with releases for Repeat in 2023 and the Debonker EP on Past Tense.
