DJ C4

Clayton Swartz, known as DJ C4, grew up in Miami and discovered welding as a teenager watching his father work, later attending Dixie Hollins High School in Pinellas County, Florida. While earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting and sculpture at the University of South Florida, he got into Florida's electronic music scene and began DJing, moving fluidly between hardcore electro, Chicago and UK hard house, funk-driven electro, nu skool breaks, and pounding house.

He co-founded the label and artist project Funklab, which ran for about a decade, and also recorded as House Wrecka, leading the Hallucin8Trax outfit and releasing 12" singles through the Hallucination store alongside the C4 Meltdown DJ mix CD, known for blending Chicago-style hardhouse with funky breaks.

Swartz also taught high school art for Pinellas County schools for five years, and in 2005, as he and his wife started a family, shifted his focus away from music and toward sculpture full time. He now runs Swartz Art Gallery in Pinellas Park, Florida, creating metal sculptures for public and private collections around the Tampa Bay area and beyond.
