Biography
Craig De Shan Adams, known as DJ Assault, was born October 19, 1977, in Detroit, and grew up listening to the Electrifying Mojo's radio show, beginning his own DJ career at local parties by age 12. Alongside DJ Godfather and DJ Funk, he helped popularize ghettotech, also known as Detroit booty music, a rapid-fire fusion of techno, electro, and hip hop, and is best known for his 1997 single "Ass n' Titties" from the album Belle Isle Tech.
He released music through his own labels, Assault Rifle and Electrofunk, later consolidating output under Jefferson Ave, and built a catalog that includes Assaultland, Off the Chain for the Y2K, and multiple volumes of Straight Up Detroit Shit.
