Daedelus

Alfred Darlington, known as Daedelus, was born in Santa Monica, California, in 1977 to an artist mother and a professor father, and grew up classically and jazz trained on a range of instruments before discovering the Bomb Squad's productions for Public Enemy and the breakbeats of UK rave and hardcore. They took their stage name from the skilled craftsman of Greek mythology, and in 1999 began DJing Entropy Sessions on Dublab.com, catching the ear of Carlos Niño, who introduced them to the LA scene.

Their 2002 debut album, Invention, was released on Plug Research, and they've since built a prolific catalog for labels including Ninja Tune, Brainfeeder, Anticon, and Warp, working with artists including Flying Lotus, Diplo, Death Cab for Cutie, and Kimbra. Daedelus later joined Berklee College of Music as a founding faculty member of its Electronic Digital Instrument program.
