Bryan G

Gary Bryan, known as Bryan Gee, grew up in Cheltenham as part of a tight-knit Jamaican community immersed in sound system culture, becoming a selector for the local system Challenger in his early teens. He moved to Brixton in the early 1980s, and after a period of legal trouble, started his own sound system, Kleer FM, DJing wherever he could and later on pirate radio.

He met Jumpin Jack Frost at a local pub gig, and the two built a partnership on pirate stations Quest FM and their own Brixton-based Passion, introducing house and acid house to their sets after a chance encounter with the new sound near London Bridge. Bryan landed a job at Rhythm King's Outer Rhythm imprint, helping launch the careers of Leftfield and Moby, before he and Frost founded V Recordings together, bringing through artists including Roni Size, Krust, and DJ Die.
